Joan Pronk and Mert Okatan, the winners of ‘Love Island’, have split up. The two let us know via Instagram.

The two met during the second season of Love Island, an originally British program in which a number of young singles try to find love in a luxurious holiday home. The winners, couples who find love in each other and who are also loved by the public, will win 25,000 euros. During the second season, football player Mert Okatan and hostess and DJ Joan Pronk walked with that prize and each other. After more than a year of being a couple, the two are now separated.

“Mert and I would like to let you know that unfortunately we have put an end to our relationship. It’s a sad and difficult time but we are at peace with it,” Joan writes on Instagram. “Fortunately we don’t have a fight or anything weird but it just didn’t work.” The same story can be read with Mert.
