Love Heals the Soul: Techno Rave in Historic Berlin Church

The Berlin St. Thomas Church in Kreuzberg is set to become a place for techno fans next Saturday. Under the motto “Love Heals the Soul” there will be a rave in the historic church, as the Evangelische Kirchenkreis Berlin Stadtmitte announced on Monday as the organizer. He should combine “ecstasy and spirituality”.

The techno party starts at 10 p.m. and ends with a “spiritual chill-out” the next morning. DJ and techno producer Torsten Kanzler (Filth on Acid) has been announced as the main act. According to the information provided, three aspiring DJs from the Berlin and Cologne techno scene will be presenting themselves: T-Mon,Haffenloher and VADH.

The superintendent of the church district, Berthold Höcker, emphasized that transcendence and ecstasy were important elements of religious life even in the Bible: “We are bringing this form of religious experience back into the church.”

Spirituality and techno culture are two sides of the same message. To this end, the St. Thomas Church is opened up as a place of encounter and shared experience. “With this event, we are building bridges between people from different walks of life so that they can experience the connection between church and ecstasy in a contemporary way,” said Höcker.

Tickets are available in advance or at the box office. The “spiritual chill-out” can be visited without registration, depending on capacity, it said.
