Love for Music: you can expect these Suzan & Freek hits

It will be a special ‘Love for Music’ episode tonight. The artists venture into the repertoire of the musical couple Suzan & Freek and that is a first. Clouseau will be heard in French for the first time and Tourist LeMC will surprise us with a special duet.

The love for music is in abundance during the episode of Suzan & Freek. Jasper Steverlinck moves Suzan to tears with his version of ‘Weg Van Jou’, a cheerful love song to which he has skillfully added a touch of melancholy. With Clouseau the creation process was initially a little more difficult. “We had a problem,” is what the duo says when they have to leave. ‘There are two of you, so are we. You sing in Dutch, so do we. What else do you have to do?’, Clouseau explains. However, Koen and Kris found the solution and surprised everyone with their first cover… in French. And that on the hit ‘Goud’.

Tourist also has a surprise in store for ‘Shared By Us’. As the name suggests, he shares that cover with… Laura Tesoro! Laura herself made a bold choice. ‘I started working on your baby, “When It Is Evening”. In English it becomes “When The Stars Come Out”. The text really appealed to me because I am someone who cannot go to sleep without an argument,” Laura explains.

Sleepless nights

Stan Van Samang chooses ‘Insomnia’, an obvious choice. He transformed his cover into a song about the sleepless period after the birth of son Lenny. ‘When Lenny was very small he always had to be held upright because he had reflux. At night he was quiet for a maximum of 20 minutes and then he started screaming again. We sometimes had weeks without sleep, which was very hard. But he needed us. Point. Then you do that.’, Stan explains.

K3 is going in a different direction this time. “You have a lot of positivity and beautiful messages, but strangely enough we have chosen a song that has a heavy load,” says Hanne. ‘We also go with our “Head in the Clouds”, but in a different way.’ Tonight Johannes chooses ‘Honderd Keer’: ‘Your text is a cute romcom story, I have added the trademark Johannes uncertainty. My love and I have been together for 14 years and she has hit on me. I’m way too insecure for that and that’s what the song is about.’

Regi’s nerves are on edge again. ‘When I knew who would participate in “Love for Music” I answered within two milliseconds: all good, but I definitely want to do that song. Mirror image is a gift to me through and through. I do it with my own Suzan & Freek: Maxine & Jaap.’, Regi explains. Suzan & Freek close the evening with their big hit from ‘Liefde voor Muziek’: ‘ Deze Is Voor Jou’.

On one knee in Berlin

Suzan & Freek not only share their love for music and each other. They also share their love of Coldplay, the first concert they ever went to together. It is therefore no coincidence that the British band was central during Freek’s marriage proposal to Suzan. ‘We went to Berlin for a weekend, not entirely by chance’, says Freek in ‘Love for Music’. ‘We went shopping and saw all kinds of people with Coldplay merchandise, so I thought: there goes my surprise. But in the end I pulled out the cards, got down on my knees, she said yes and we celebrated love at Coldplay. The band was already special to us, but now even more so.’
