On September 11, a comedy will be premiered at the Daugavpils Theater, the scenes of which take place in a small one-room apartment. Title of the show “Love 32 m2”. It is a Russian-language comedy staged by director Ivars Lūšs about the meaning of life, the need for love and the opportunity to seek and find it, or faith in the bright.
With this full premiere of melodrama, Daugavpils Theater is also starting its new theater season, which promises to be intriguing after the pandemic, and is looking forward to meeting its audience.
Elevating activity reigns in Daugavpils Theater, the play “Love 32m” is staged on the big stage of the theater by director Ivars Lūšs2“.
“The mood is wonderful, each show is like a young child, everything is moving forward in the intended bed,” said director Ivars Lūsis.
The scenes of the show take place in a small one-room apartment, which has changed its owners several times and where the experience and wisdom of several generations living here is concentrated.
Most likely, starting the season with this production has been a deliberate step, says Ivars Lūsis.

“It can be said classically that all performances are about love.
But this show is more than faith, faith in the bright tomorrow and the future.
A not so easy period for people is now behind us, a pandemic and all those limitations. And people are quite tired of life, because the subconscious is already following the pandemic, and not only the subconscious is following us, but is right next door. The theater and also my personal intention is to give people an easy rest and not only to make them think. Glad that finally the theater can open its doors to the audience, albeit a limited number. But there will still be spectators, ”the director points out.
Tickets sold out at the box office of Daugavpils Theater convince that there will be spectators. And they will be a feast for theater-goers again.
“We are thirsty for theater, when you are in the hall, when you feel the current, the wave of emotions, the mood, it is its added value from this event in person,” say the lovers of Daugavpils theater.
It is this exchange of feelings with the audience that awaits the theater itself so long before the new season, confirms the director of the theater Oleg Shaposhnikov.
“Due to the pandemic and the long period when we could not meet the audience face to face, there is a special energy that unites us. They are no longer a spectator-artist relationship. It is a relationship of relatives who have not seen for a long time and met again. ”
The time of the pandemic not only allowed the spectator to become obsolete, it was an opportunity for the theater to work seriously, the behind the scenes and results of Latvian Radio’s work are revealed by Oleg Shaposnikov.

“Already at the beginning of the pandemic period, we decided that not only would we not give up morally, but we would work actively. Let’s actually work. I can say with joy and even pride that during this time the Daugavpils Theater has not closed its doors completely so that life would not happen here. We did what we could both technically and artistically, ”emphasizes the theater director.
“Therefore, we can be glad that there are only two premieres in September, in one month. It has never been like this. And that is the result of our work. ”
At the end of September, the Daugavpils Theater will have its premiere by director J. J. A melodrama staged by Gillinger called “XXL”. Also this autumn, the play “Seagull” will be premiered under the direction of Oleg Shaposhnikov. For the first time in the history of the theater, it will be an experiment, because the show will be in two parts and will be shown for two evenings.
The Daugavpils Theater cannot disclose plans for the future after the New Year due to objective reasons. However, he very much hopes to play all the performances that did not take place during the emergency this season.
