For thank the caregivers of Louviers hospital (Eure), and more generally all the staff, the students of the Jean-Baptiste Decrétot high school have prepared various delicacies.
They were distributed this Friday, June 11, 2021 during the morning in the courtyard of the hospital.
Nearly 700 sachets were elaborated with thoroughness by five classes of the hotel school. This represents between 50 and 60 students of CAP, vocational bac and technological bac.

“With these delicacies we say thank you. “
Mylan (17 years old) was among the students participating in this operation. “We found it important to pay tribute to the hospital staff. They have worked hard during this time of health crisis. It shows them that they are taken into consideration and that they are not forgotten, ”says the teenager.
His friend, Jérémy (17 years old), agrees.
“It’s been over a year since the Covid and they have never given up. It’s not much, but with these delicacies we say thank you. “
The idea comes from Aurore Renult, teacher in service at the Lycée Decrétot.
“Many initiatives of this kind have taken place in France. I was inspired by it. The idea was to make students aware of the importance of the work of caregivers during the crisis. And the pupils were able to learn things, to apply their knowledge. It’s very positive for them too! “

The values of the school
Joel Delhopital, principal of the school, recalls that the establishment “has been committed for several years in this kind of partnership”.
This year, it’s the hospital, but usually there is the Caesars gala dinner in Paris (at Fouquet’s), the charity dinner in Louviers for the benefit of the foundation for medical research, etc. The school is knowingly turned outward. “It’s in our values,” he adds.
This Friday, June 11, 19 high school students were present “on a voluntary basis” to distribute the prepared sachets to the 500 hospital staff present.
“This kind of action can also allow us to open the door to other projects. Why not cooking demonstrations in nursing homes ”, for his part Stéphanie Deridder, cooking teacher.
The principal nods:
“It could be all the more interesting as for 2022 we have the project to open a BTS in dietetics in high school. “

Meetings with professionals
The intercommunal hospital center Elbeuf – Louviers – Val-de-Reuil (CHIELVR) welcomes for its part this gesture of generosity with open arms.
The establishment also sees it as a way of “opening up the hospital, which is also a place of life, not just a place where one comes when one is sick or injured”. And to continue:
“The students were able to meet our health professionals, but also all the staff, such as the cooks of our two nursing homes. [N.D.L.R. : les Rives Saint-Taurin et Les Quatre Saisons], the pastry chef of Rives Saint-Taurin and the catering employees. “
The hospital also took the opportunity to pass prevention messages, through family planning for young women or more generally on the issue of screening for sexually transmitted infections (STIs).
