Lousy scam

The criminal investigation department of the Uckermark police station is currently processing fraud offenses in which the victims have suffered significant financial damage.

Preferably pensioners are given the impression that iYour book collections could experience a significant increase in value or be sold profitably.

As soon as the interest of the potential victims is aroused, they are made to believe that the books will first be valued and, if necessary, additional ones „valuable“ Individual volumes would have to be added in order to increase the value of the book collection. As a result, large sums are demanded for the additional book copies, the estimation, transport or commission costs, which leads to the subsequent victims sometimes being persuaded to take out expensive loans.

The money from the loan is then transferred to unknown accounts and the injured parties not only lose the money, but also have to repay an expensive loan, which regularly represents a significant burden.

In this context, the police advise:

Be Sie skepticalwhen very large amounts are offered for book collections.

Do not allow your decisions to be manipulated or influenced by the prospect of profits, promises of money or the threat of negative consequences.

Contact people you trust (relatives or close confidants) and seek advice from them.

Do not conclude contracts over the phone or at the front door.

Don’t let yourself be put under pressure. If necessary, end the conversation or phone call or bring in someone you trust.

Do not transfer money to people you do not know.

Contact the police and file a report.
