Loupianais, he opens a food truck in Los Angeles: “If America made me dream, it’s thanks to Johnny”

It was in September that the 30-year-old from Loupian left to settle across the Atlantic.

“If I’m going to open a French food truck in Los Angeles (LA), it’s partly because of Johnny Hallyday. He was the one who made me discover the city like no one else when I was 17”, says Jérémy Revello, a 30-something from Loupian who decided to try the adventure across the Atlantic. Before returning to the story that links the entrepreneur to the idol of young people, let’s take a look at his project.

Things became possible

“Until not long ago, I was touring with my food-truck on the north of the Thau basin. I was making American food that I learned to prepare there, between my 17 and 25 years old . I had wanted to open a food truck in LA for a long time, to offer French cuisine. But I was not eligible. And then things changed. French people can now apply for an E2 visa ( read box)”, specifies the thirties who adds that as he was able to sell his food truck recently, “things have become possible”.

E2 visa soon…

The E2 visa is an investor, non-immigrant visa that allows you to come to the United States, with a spouse and unmarried children under 21, to develop a business. To be eligible for this type of visa, you must meet various criteria. You must first be a national of a country that has a trade agreement with the USA. Among other things, you have to come to the USA to develop and direct the company’s activities. Invest “substantially” in commercial activity that is not negligible. Finally, you must commit to leaving the USA when the visa expires.

Moreover, the latter returned last week from California and claims to have “settled the last details with the American administration”. “It’s a visa reserved for investors. The entry ticket is US$100,000. You have to prove that you have the necessary funds, but also present a viable business plan. You also have to prove that you wants to develop its business ambitiously and over time”, explains the Loupianais who specifies that his “plan has been validated by an American accountant”.

Coachella festivals

The Frenchman who intends to settle in the USA, from September with his partner. “We are also going to get married this summer. We want to and in addition it favors our file there”, explains the latter, who is betting on “the influence of everything related to French cuisine” to complete his project according to its growth ambitions. “The idea is to open a food truck every two years. Each one specializes in a certain type of French cuisine. For now, the idea is to follow important events in the LA area, such as the Coachella festival. On this type of event, I will only offer French daily specials. The rest of the time, I intend to transform myself into a Breton crêperie”, explains the Loupianais who since he has “sold everything in France” lives with his other half “with friends or with his parents”.

Another asset for Jérémy Revello, the fact of having already lived in total “more than a year and a half there” and of having “a friend settled in LA, for 30 years”. “He has been running a restaurant and a French grocery store for a very long time. His experience could be useful to me”, says future migrant who is about to live his American dream in the city he traveled with Johnny, until meeting him , for the last time in LA, “a few months before his death”. If I had the chance to meet him, it was because my parents were friends with his family. If America made me dream, it’s thanks to Johnny”.
