New York is very much appreciated by European fashion lately. The city is currently expecting pre-fall shows from Versace and Chanelthat fit perfectly into the new CFDA fashion week in December. Next year it will host another big name: Louis Vuittons Creative director Nicolas Ghesquiere announced that he will be showing the Resort 2020 collection in the Big Apple next May.
The Teaser-Video shows the former locations of the resort runways, including the Niterói Museum of Contemporary Art in Rio de Janeiro, the Miho Museum in Kyoto and the Bob and Delores Hope Estate in Palm Springs, until the images switch to different buildings in New York. While the exact venue is yet to be announced, the architectural focus suggests the models will be walking in or near a visually stunning building. Will it be the Guggenheim Museum, as some speculate? Or is Ghesquières an ideal place elsewhere, like the Oculus or the Flatiron building?
The Louis Vuitton announcement means the first full week of May in New York will be all about fashion. The show takes place on May 8th, just two days after the Met Gala, which this year celebrates the theme “Camp: Notes on Fashion”. No doubt people will still be talking about Lady Gaga’s outfit and whether or not Harry Styles Has appeared with baby animals or not, but if someone can attract attention during this time, it is the label that closes the Paris Fashion Week.
