Louis Vuitton inaugurates the exhibition dedicated to Frank Gehry during Art Basel Paris 2024

On the occasion of Art Basel Paris, Louis Vuitton celebrates its long collaboration with Frank Gehry with an exhibition dedicated to the Balcon D’Honneur of the Grand Palais

The creations of Frank Gehry, famous architect, artist and designer, are the result of continuous research into shapes and materials. It was he himself who collaborated with the Maison to create the scenario of the al Grand Palacerevisiting the key elements of collaboration with Louis Vuitton and presenting a sequence of objects, drawings and models that he created during approximately twenty years of collaboration.

At the top of the staircase floats an imposing white fish suspended, a sort of titanic reference to the central figure of Frank Gehry’s architectural vision. The sculpture emphasizes the delicate line which, blending strength and flexibility, symbolizes the curvilinear shape, a distinctive feature of Gehry’s structures. It also enhances the decorative effect of the scales, which inspired the principle of change, equally fundamental in his work on forms. The animal, free to move, is placed inside a large arch of wooden slats arranged in geometric patterns. This grandiose object, like some of the washi paper elements on display, is a reminder of Frank Gehry’s predilection for Japanese visual arts.

The exhibition will take place within the2024 edition of Art Basel Parisof which Louis Vuitton is associate partner for the third consecutive year, at the Grand Palais from 16 to 20 October.
