LOU Rugby begins 2021 with a defeat against Castres (14-15)

The Lyonnais started badly in 2021. Despite their numerical superiority for more than 70 minutes, the Reds and Blacks were totally absent this Saturday afternoon. LOU led before Castres returned to the score before the break. The two teams returned back to back to the locker room (7-7).

One could have imagined a burst of pride from Pierre Mignoni’s men in the second half, but it took place too late. The 13e of the championship before this match showed much more desire, determination, to win this confrontation. The premises were punished by a penalty and a try five minutes from the end of the meeting. Charlie Ngatai’s try in the last seconds still allowed the Rhone residents to leave with the point of the defensive bonus (14-15).

This is the fourth loss for LOU in the Top 14 this season. We will have to move on quickly because the Lyonnais will be back next Wednesday against Montpellier for a late match in the league. And the Montpellier residents risk landing at Gerland with a lot of envy, because they also bowed this Saturday.
