Lotto winner thought missed calls were telemarketer

On Saturday, two people were lucky winners of more than 7.2 million kroner each in Lotto.

One winner is a man in his 40s from Kongsvinger, the other a woman from Viken. But she did not pick up the phone.

Both Saturday and Sunday, Norsk Tipping called her several times, without them receiving any answer from the other end.

On Monday, they called her one last time. Not even then did she answer.

But according to Norsk Tipping, there is a reason why the wanted winner did not pick up the phone.

– She thought it was a telephone salesman, says content producer Gro Synstad in Norsk Tipping to TV 2.

Shock

On Monday, the woman checked her online bank. When she saw that she had been transferred more than 7.2 million kroner, she was shocked and thought it was a mistake, according to Norsk Tipping.

When she checked the online bank again on Monday night, the money was still there. It also stated who had transferred the sum.

– I just sat and stared at the sum and thought that if this is correct, then I will buy an apartment in the mountains, the woman says to Norsk Tipping.

On Tuesday morning, the Lotto winner contacted his daughter about the million transfer she had received.

The daughter had read, among other things TV 2s article on Monday that Norsk Tipping had tried to get a lottery winner.

Thus, the same two and two realized who they had tried to get hold of.

– She realized it was me and started to cry, says the lottery winner, who wishes to remain anonymous.

Diamond ring and bubbles

The lottery winner tells Norsk Tipping that she has played in the same row since 1986. 35 years later, she won.

Now the woman will buy a diamond ring and two bottles of champagne, she says.

– I will invite over a friend who is close, because I do not intend to say this to anyone. We’ll enjoy some bubbles tonight. But first I will buy the diamond ring I have wanted, says the woman from Viken.
