Lots of rain coming this week | Inland

According to Weeronline, rain areas are moving ‘excruciatingly slowly’ over our country from Tuesday to Thursday. As a result, it can rain heavily for hours. The southeastern half in particular will have to endure a lot of rain, with probably most in the Limburg Hills. In the northwest it stays dry more often.

Although it is already getting quite wet here, you can count on even more rain in Germany and Belgium. In the Ardennes and in the north of the Eifel, precipitation amounts of up to 200 mm are possible in a few days. By way of comparison, in the Netherlands there is an average of 80 mm in a whole month of July.

The large amount of rain can lead to local flooding in the hills of our neighboring countries. Ultimately, this water flows to the Netherlands, which means that high water levels can also be expected here. This applies in particular to the Meuse and to a much lesser extent to the Rhine, according to Weeronline.

Different from last weeks

According to the website, the rain of the next few days will be different than recent weeks: due to fierce thunderstorms, a lot of water came down very locally, resulting in local flooding. Significant rainfall is now expected in a large area.

As a result, more places will experience nuisance from the water at the same time. Think of low water on the street, large puddles in fields, soaking wet lawns and high water levels in streams and rivers.
