In the best summer weather in Hamburg, many people were out and about on Saturday. The crowds were especially drawn to the Elbe beach and the city’s parks. The police speak of a very quiet situation.
A similar picture everywhere in the city: packed parks, beaches, cafes and restaurants. The people of Hamburg are drawn back outside. So far, the police have only been able to find isolated violations of the corona rules. Overall, the situation is relaxed, most people adhered to the applicable requirements, the police told NDR 90.3.
Several demonstrations in the city
However, the police faced several demonstrations and rallies. Around 150 climate activists from Extinction Rebellion rode bicycles through the city and around 100 people gathered at Alma-Wartenberg-Platz in Altona for a pro-Israel rally. In the afternoon there was also a demonstration by left-wing groups at the Sternschanze S-Bahn station. According to the police, around 300 people were expected here.

Police are increasingly monitoring compliance with the corona rules
There were also significantly more police officers on the streets in Hamburg on Saturday to check the corona rules. The background is the riots in the Schanzenviertel last weekend. Hardly any violations were reported on Friday evening.
