The Polish airline will resume connections between Ostrava and Prague after almost two years.
An unexpected surprise was prepared by the Polish state carrier LOT Polish Airlines for domestic passengers. One week and a half after the launch of the route from Ostrava to Warsaw, he announced that he would start flying from Ostrava to Prague.
According to a press release issued today, Ostrava Airport is a temporary connection that will begin on November 12. It will fly five times a week. The new route will also mean a change in the flight schedule between Ostrava and Warsaw. Tickets are already on sale.
It flew between Prague and Ostrava for 83 years until the beginning of last year, when CSA terminated the direct connection. „Residents of the region, companies and investors thus have the opportunity to use the connection to the whole of Europe via Warsaw, as well as fast, convenient and from a pandemic point of view the safest connection to the capital,“Said Kateřina Pustějovská, spokeswoman for Ostrava Airport.
The duration of the route will be influenced by a number of factors, including the development of the pandemic situation, the development of demand for flying and the interest of passengers in using the air connection to Prague. Prices for one-way tickets will start at CZK 770. “The line will be maintained as temporary during this pandemic period, with the proviso that, if used successfully by passengers, it can be maintained in the long term. We will again get regular flights to the capital,“Said Stanislav Bujnovský, Sales Director of Ostrava Airport. The Embraer E170 will fly on the route.
At the same time, the new connection is a slight deterioration for passengers from Ostrava further via Warsaw. So far, the flight schedule was built in the early morning departure to catch the morning rush hour from Warsaw. Currently, they are still offered in the reservation system for many flights a day, but it is probably just a mistake.
