The Figeacois doctor Pierre Forcade had to be hospitalized after contracting Covid-19. Back home, recovering, he testifies and wishes to reassure patients about his state of health.
General practitioner installed in an office in the heart of Figeac, Doctor Pierre Forcade has not received any more patients since the beginning of the year. And for good reason: the practitioner has not escaped the epidemic wave of the coronavirus.
The news of his illness spread like wildfire in the city, especially as the doctor’s state of health required his hospitalization in Cahors. After eight days spent at the hospital, Doctor Figeacois was fortunately able to return to his home where he is currently at rest. But faced with the emotion aroused and especially the false news on the seriousness of his condition, Pierre Forcade today wishes to reassure his worried patients and all those who may have feared for his life. He returns precisely to the thread of events.
Hospitalized in Cahors but no need for resuscitation
“I contracted the Covid on January 1 with significant flu-like syndrome and great fatigue” says the doctor who specifies that he was treated with treatment with azithromycin, cortisone, cough suppressants, vitamins C and D and rest. “But oxygen therapy at 5 liters was not enough”, indicates Pierre Forcade that the Samu de Figeac with the firefighters had to come and collect at his home for a necessary transfer to the hospital in Cahors.
An eight-day stay where the doctor fortunately “did not need resuscitation”. “The treatment I had taken had already helped me a lot, but still needed hospitalization,” he says. Back home recovering, he is resting today. The date of his professional resumption has not yet been set.
Wearing a mask and disinfecting the hands
In the meantime, Pierre Forcade renews a few prescriptions on the essential barrier gestures and first of all recalls the importance of wearing a mask “to avoid harvesting germs” in particular for people “who know they are fragile and especially those who have a cold. , a gastro, a grippette ”. Without forgetting “to always disinfect your hands, it must be obsessive” underlines the general practitioner.
Regarding the vaccine, he advises patients to consult their doctor who in all cases “will be able to assess the level of attack, recommend a test, a chest scan, especially treatment. These prevent two out of three patients from ending up in a sheave, ”he concludes.
