A personal motive was the basis of the arson of the cars of the taxi boss Marian Kirov. This was announced by the District Prosecutor’s Office, quoted by Trafficnews.bg.
8 taxi cars were cremated last night in the Plovdiv village of Yagodovo. The police detained the perpetrator – a 27-year-old man from the village of Krislovo.

The prosecutor’s office explained that the motive was personal after an argument with the taxi company.
“The reasons are being clarified. The 28-year-old explained that some time ago he lost a wallet with BGN 600 in one of the company’s taxis. He soon had an argument with a taxi driver again and the reason for the arson was hatred of the industry. He claims that he himself decided to set fire to the cars for personal vendetta “, said Atanas Iliev – spokesman for the District Prosecutor’s Office.
However, the state prosecution did not explain whether it was arson. Swabs were seized from the perpetrator and his home was searched. Videos from the area are also viewed.
“Six cars were set on fire, there was a bus and another car. It was established that the cars were in a parking lot near the service station. The cars were without batteries, which means that the fire was not due to a short circuit. A man was detained. “The district prosecutor’s office will request the imposition of a” custody “measure against him. The envisaged punishment is up to 8 years in prison,” said District Prosecutor Chavdar Groshev. He added that Marian Kirov was interrogated earlier today.
And Kirov said he expected the attack.
The COVID crisis affected his business and only a dozen of the 40-50 cars remained in operation. The unused vehicles were parked in front of a service station on Vasil Levski Street.
“I did not know that he had already been arrested. As for the arson – I expected it from two people. At the moment I will not mention names. I have described them in detail in my complaint to investigators. For me the attack is custom-made and comes from competing companies The reason – in recent months I have repeatedly reported to the institutions for violations by taxi companies. The last complaint was 7-8 days ago, when I described in detail the schemes for VAT evasion and turnover. In addition, many companies do not pay insurance to drivers and even drivers are I have informed the institutions that after February the mayor of Plovdiv has the right to revoke the license of companies with violations. This is not done, although the law allows it and although the irregularities are well known. We, the regular carriers, we lose from these schemes. The state also loses “said Marian Kirov.
The damage caused by the fire is over BGN 70,000, according to the taxi boss.
