Lost Climber on Mount Guntur Found Safe Without Clothes

A climber was found safe with the condition of not wearing clothes around the location of the Cikole spring, Guntur Mountain, Tarogong Kaler District, Arrowroot, West Java, Sunday (5/7). The climber missing Mount Guntur was previously reported missing since Saturday (4/7).

Head of Tarogong Sector Police Department, Iptu Masrokan, said that the missing climber from Mount Guntur was named Afrizal (16), a resident of Cilawu District, Garut. He was found to be in good health and wearing only pants, no clothes.

“Indeed, when the victim was found not wearing clothes, because according to his statement when out of the tent did not wear clothes,” said Masrokan.


He said the search for missing victims on Mount Guntur involved the ranks of the Bandung Search and Relief Office, BPBD Garut, TNI, Polri, BKSDA officers and local citizen volunteers.

The search was divided by several teams. The victim was found by local resident Entis (61), who was part of a search team in the Cikole spring area, Mount Guntur.

“Mr. Entis did a search at the location of the Cikole spring, Mr. Entis called the child on Afrizal’s name, Alhamdulillah when called the child heard and approached him, “said Masrokan.

He said there were no obstacles during the search operation. The victim has now been handed over to his parents in Cigarungsang, Cilawu District, Garut.

“The victim has now been handed over to his family, his condition is healthy, safe,” he said.

Previously, from information compiled by Antara, Afrizal along with four of his friends climbed and camped on Mount Guntur on Friday (3/7) afternoon. He arrived and set up the tent at around 18:00 WIB.

The victim and her friend talked until Saturday (4/7) at 02.00 WIB, then slept, but in the morning the victim was not in the tent.

The victim’s friend tried to find and waited until midday, but the victim did not come. His friend decided to go down the mountain and report the incident to his parents.

Furthermore, the parents of the victims together with residents conducted a search for the missing climber of Mount Guntur until finally getting help from the joint officer.
