Aker Offshore Wind released on Tuesday the results for the first half of the year.

The company had sales of NOK 1.69 million and operating expenses of NOK 97.3 million, the accounts show. The operating profit after depreciation and amortization shows a loss of 120.5 million.

After financial expenses and other items are included, profit after tax ended with a loss of NOK 156.6 million.

The company spent NOK 85.1 million net in the quarter and ended with NOK 389 million in the account at the end of June.

Aker Offshore Wind was established last year when Aker split the oil service group Aker Solutions. Both Aker Offshore Wind, which focuses on offshore wind, and the carbon capture company Aker Carbon Capture were spun off and listed as separate companies.

The company was already embarking on a major offshore wind venture when it was part of Aker Solutions, in both California and South Korea.

This investment continues, but there are also ongoing investments in Sweden, Norway and Scotland.

In the second quarter, Aker Offshore Wind announced that BP will join the alliance with Aker and Statkraft to bid for offshore wind licenses in the Southern North Sea II – one of the two blocks on the Norwegian shelf to be announced.

In Scotland, Aker Offshore Wind works with Ocean Winds, a joint venture backed by EDPR and Engie.

– We have taken significant steps in this quarter to promote our planned license applications by joining well-known partners in Norway and Scotland. At both locations, Aker’s leading deepwater expertise, offshore expertise and technology will be clear competitive advantages, says Astrid Onsum, CEO of Aker Offshore Wind.
