The third-party software Lossless Scaling is now available in version 2.0 and offers “frame generation for everyone”. The update promises an improved architecture even at low base frame rates of 30/40 fps and a special “Performance” mode.
With Lossless Scaling, players will have the opportunity to generate additional frames (Frame Generation / Nvidia, Fluid Motion Frames / AMD), regardless of whether the game offers support for these technology / technologies. Basically, the third-party software was available by the creator of “THS” on Steam for about 7 euros, mainly to allow a pixel-accurate display of elevated windows. With nine scaling modes, different results can be achieved depending on the content.
At the beginning of the month, PCGH took a close look at the software including “Frame Generation for All” and noted how much the latencies are affecting the game. If you are interested in lossless scaling, we recommend the big test with all the important information. An update of the test based on the updated version (read more about this in the following section) will soon be available from PCGH.
Lossless scaling 2.0 – FG with improved architecture even for low frame rates
A developer is a Lossless scale released a new update a few days ago, which updates the program to version 2.0. At low base frame rates of 30/40 fps (at least recommended) for resolutions of 1080p/1440p, efficient use should now be possible thanks to the improved LSFG architecture. In addition, artifacts are said to be significantly reduced, although this comes with higher latencies.
Depending on the resolution, the GPU also suffers to a greater extent. The GPU load is said to have increased 1.5 to two times compared to the previous version. To compensate for this difference without a difference in quality, Lossless Scaling offers a new “Performance” mode, according to the developer. Below is the changelog for LSFG 2.0:
- Improved architecture for large motion processing, enabling efficient use at lower frame rates. Therefore, the minimum recommended frame rates are 30/40 for 1080p and 140p resolutions respectively, with 60 FPS and above recommended for the best experience.
- Visible reduction in common artifacts such as ghosting, edge distortion, and image blur. In cases where artifacts persist, it is advisable to increase the basic frame rate.
- GPU load increased 1.5x to 2x depending on resolution. Therefore, a new “Performance” mode has been added to maintain the performance of the previous version. It retains the main advantages of the quality version and performs better than LSFG 1.1, at the same speed.
