There were no points for IF Elfsborg when the team faced Djurgårdens IF away from home. The home team scored two goals in the second half and blanked the yellow and black team on Sunday.

IF Elfsborg took the kick-off when the match at Tele2 Arena kicked off. But it was the home team that took hold of the match picture and possession early in the match. The Blue Stripes rolled the ball in the back line and in their own half initially, and then put quick balls deep behind Elfsborg’s back line. The yellow and black cleared out the quick attempts from the home team and were able to keep the ball out of Bundgaard’s penalty area.

The home team received double corners in the ninth minute, but neither caused any problems for the Elfsborg defence.

In the middle of the half, Di Gule won the ball in midfield on a couple of occasions in a short period of time. An aggressive pressing game produced results and opportunities for conversions. But the team did not get any scoring chances, the ball stopped on a home defender or the last pass failed.

There was a bit of sloppiness here and there in the passing game for the yellow and black part. This meant that the team did not get any longer periods of rest with the ball. Then instead, Djurgården’s IF could create pressure and establish themselves in IF Elfsborg’s half of the pitch.

Dion Krasniqi worked hard from his attacking position and was also the player who would take the team’s first shot on goal. From a position at the corner of the penalty area, the striker fired a low and good finish towards the front post, but it was saved by the home team’s keeper.

Just before the break, Marcus Bundgaard made a great save when the goalkeeper had to stretch out towards his left post and tip a well-placed shot into a then fruitless corner.

Second half

Already in the 47th minute, the home team took the lead in the match. After Elfsborg’s defense couldn’t get the ball away, Djurgården’s attackers were able to play the ball back to an oncoming midfielder who shot on a strike. The shot took a small touch on the yellow and black defender and was out of reach for goalkeeper Bundgaard.

Only minutes later came the next scoring chance for the home team. A shot from outside dived hard and took the top edge of the crossbar and then out to a yellow-black kick-in.

IF Elfsborg’s first chance in the second half came in minute 57. André Boman had entered the penalty area and met a tackle. But the right-back got a bad hit on the finish that rolled just outside the left post.

In the middle of the half, DIF would extend its lead to 2-0. A tackle to a running player caused problems for the yellow and black back line and their player was able to fire a low finish that went under Bundgaard and into the goal. The goal came in the 70th minute.

After Djurgården’s second goal, it became more and more IF Elfsborg in the match. Both in terms of ball possession and goal chances. In a nice transition situation, it was becoming a great situation. Rami Kaib made his way to the left and played the ball into the penalty area. Ahmed Qasem skipped the ball and it instead went to a free-wheeling Camil Jebara at the far end of the penalty area. The winger received the ball, but then slipped and the chance was missed.

It was the start of a couple of minutes where yellow and black created several chances, but where the last one didn’t quite go the way of the goal. Ahmed Qasem received a ball haphazardly inside the penalty area, but did not have time to angle his body up and the finish spilled over the short line. Shortly afterwards, Camil Jebara found himself in a new position, this time just outside the penalty area. It was a bad hit at the end and the ball once again outside the goal frame.

IF Elfsborg continued to move forward towards the end of the match but did not manage to get the real scoring chances. While the home team defends well.

In added time, Besfort Zeneli finished off a fine Elfsborg attack when he fired a good shot from a tight angle that was saved for a corner by the home team’s goalkeeper. There were no goals for the yellow and black side, the match ended 2-0 to Djurgården IF.
