Liverpool lost 1-2 to Brighton & Hove Albion. Kaoru Mitoma’s goal in the final minutes of the match knocked the Reds out of the way Cup FOUR.
Brighton hosted Liverpool in the fourth round of the FA Cup at the Amex Stadium on Sunday (29/1/2023) evening WIB. Liverpool almost opened the scoring when the game had only been running for four minutes. However, Mohamad Salah’s efforts were driven away by Lewis Dunk on the goal line.
Brighton responded by being able to present a golden opportunity in the 15th minute. Solly March’s bait was grabbed by Evan Ferguson to beat Alisson Becker. The Reds still survived from conceding because Trent Alexander-Arnold still swept the ball.
Gol!! Liverpool could break the deadlock in the 30th minute. Mohamed Salah’s shot from the right side was completed by Harvey Elliot to trick Jason Steele.
Gol!! Brigthon grabbed the equalizer nine minutes later in the 39th. Tariq Lamptey’s shot from outside the penalty box hit Lewis Dunk. The ball that turned towards tricked Alisson before scoring a goal.
The 1-1 score lasted until the first half was over.
The buying and selling attacks are still happening after the break. Brighton almost turned ahead in the 71st minute.
Kaoru Mitoma’s pass from the left met March who was standing in front of the goal. However, Alisson performed brilliantly to block March’s shot.
The quality of the attacks of both sides decreased in the rest of the match. When the match looked like it would end in a draw, Brighton could score a goal in the final minutes.
Gol!! Pervis Esstupinan’s cross found Kaoru Mitoma at the far post. Mitoma was able to outwit Joe Gomez and then released a hard kick that shook Liverpool’s nets in the 90+2 minute.
Brighton won the match 2-1 to advance to the next round. Meanwhile, Liverpool must be willing to be eliminated. Juergen Klopp’s troops failed to defend the FA Cup title.
