The LOSC defense boss intended to win at Ajax Amsterdam before discovering a new league.
In a long interview with France Football this Tuesday, the Dutch defender Sven Botman explains how his transfer to LOSC went. Lacking playing time, the 21-year-old competitor had to pack his bags at the very last moment.
“My career has not been as linear as for others. I had to leave Ajax to get playing time. After my year at Heerenveen (where he played on loan during the 2019-20 season), I’m not going to lie to you, I thought I was was going to start at Ajax. But Lille arrived and it happened very quickly. It’s been two crazy weeks, by the way. Again, my head was in Amsterdam when I came back from Heerenveen. But Lille showed they really wanted me, and it all worked out super quickly. The main thing was to keep improving, so that seemed like a good option. After playing at the highest national level in my country, it was coherent to leave for France in a club which is looking to fight for the title. “
