Los Mirmidones open the Provincial Theater Show

NNovember is about to make an appearance on the calendar and, with its arrival, a new edition of the Provincial Theater Show returns to the Juan Bravo Theater, which in 2021 will begin tomorrow, Saturday, October 30, with the play ‘Los gemelos’, by Los Mirmidones. In addition, it will be a one hundred percent Cuellarano weekend in the most important cultural space in the province, and it is that, on Sunday, those who will take the stage to debut at the Show will be the components of the Festeamus group.

The premiere of this twenty-fourth edition of the theatrical cycle will take place tomorrow from 8:30 p.m., when, directed by Ángel Gómez, the group of young Cuellaranos will prepare to represent the life of two twin brothers separated in their childhood. Alberto García, Jaime Marcos, Ricardo Calvo, Raquel García, Luis Alvarado, Marta Herrera, Julio Castiñeira, Regino Bayón and Ángel Gómez himself will play the role of Menecmo I, Mesenión, Erotio, Cilindro or Cepillo to give life to a comedy full of confusions, entanglements and misunderstandings.

The story of ‘The Twins’, a play written by Plauto, which Los Mirmidones have already taken to various stages in the province -including the one that will host them tomorrow-, begins when one of the two brothers gets lost in the crowd, at the age seven, at the celebration of a fair in the city of Taranto. As a consequence, the father dies of grief and the remaining brother is left in the care of the grandfather, but he never forgets his twin and, already in his youth, decides to start a search that will take him through all the islands of the Mediterranean.

Laughter will be assured in this text from the second century BC, which will have nothing to do with what awaits the public who come the next day, Sunday October 31, also at 8:30 p.m., to applaud the performance of Festeamus . And it is that, for its premiere as a participant in the Show, the Cuellaran group has focused its gaze on the municipality and on the only theater piece that has survived the looting suffered by the literary work of Alfonsa de la Torre. With ‘Cierva harasda’, Festeamus will seek the complicity of the spectators in a subject silenced and censored for decades, but very current in today’s society: gender violence.

Through a cast made up of thirteen people and led by Nuria Aguado on the scene and Luis Ramos on the musical aspect, as well as an important technical, logistical and audiovisual team, Festeamus will make the public travel back in time to September 6, 1935 ; to one of the most terrible events that are remembered in Cuéllar, when the young miller Sofía Miguel was brutally murdered, shaking the society of her time.

While for the work written by Alfonsa de La Torre and represented by Festeamus all the tickets are already sold, for the assembly of Los Mirmidones there are still some seats available, which can be purchased, both at the box office and at Tickentradas, at the price of 4 euros the entrance and 9 euros the voucher of four tickets. Both the price of the tickets and their points of sale are maintained for the rest of the Exhibition.
