“Los Colombianos”, the band dedicated to usurious loans that later collect with violence

Three people, one of them a policeman, will be brought to an imputative hearing this Friday for being part of a violent gang dedicated to giving informal loans at usurious rates to people who cannot access credit. This organization, which operates in the area of the Producers Market of February 27 and San Nicolás, is investigated by shootings and threats to people who defaulted on payments. There are several members who have not yet been arrested.

One of the suspects is the Ecuadorian Jose C. and was arrested last Wednesday in a series of raids ordered by prosecutors Valeria Haurigot, Pablo Socca and Federico Rébola. In those operations she was also apprehended Liliana A., who works in the laboratory of the Investigations Agency. The woman was released, but will also be charged this Friday.

The third detainee is the Colombian Rafael B. He was a fugitive and appeared before Justice this Thursday. He is suspected of being the head of the violent gang, investigated for attempted murder, shootings, threats and usury.

According to the research, it is a gang that is dedicated to informally lending money to people with almost no ability to access credit. In return, they receive low sums of money over a period of time, so they end up making a significant profit in the medium term. According to research, the annualized rate they handle is up to 360 percent. In cases of non-compliance with these payments, shootings and threats were carried out – this is being analyzed.
