Los Angeles sheriff’s deputies save girl from drowning – NBC 52

THE ANGELS – Wendy Estrada recalls the terrifying moment when she saw her 21-month-old daughter motionless in the pool in a relative’s garden.

Family members were unaware that Maddie followed her 5-year-old brother when he left on August 25, around 6 p.m., to receive a ball at Carson’s home.

“I went looking for her and found her in the pool face down and unconscious,” Estrada said. “So of course I started screaming.”

A minute after the 911 call, four nearby Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department (LASD) officers arrived at the home. Like a team of superheroes, they worked quietly together in a dramatic scene captured on the doorbell camera.

The video shows officers gently placing little Maddie’s immobile body on a patch of grass in front of the house. He was not breathing and was unresponsive, so officers took steps to save his life and tried to clear the water from his lungs by shoving his back.

“Let’s go!. Come on! ”An agent can be heard encouraging and comforting the child.

At about 25 seconds into the video, the first sounds of Maddie’s life can be heard.

First, a slight sigh. Then a reassuring cry.

Maddie’s mother expressed her gratitude with emotional tears.

“They were incredible,” Estrada said. “I’m very grateful”.

Maddie was hospitalized for four days. He is back home and is expected to make a full recovery.

The woman was on the beach with her children when she saw three minors drowning in the sea. This is how he managed to save them.

“His training came out, his care came out, his empathy came out,” said Capt. Damon Jones of LASD’s Carson Station. “Their human side kicked in and they acted like that girl was their own daughter.”

Officers met with Maddie and her family after she was released from the hospital.
