The Los Angeles Rams have reported back with an away win against the Arizona Cardinals in the race for the division title of NFC West. After three defeats in five NFL games, the Rams win on Monday evening (local time) by 30:23. A home win would have made the Cardinals play-offs perfect.
Quarterback Matthew Stafford had three touchdown passes for the Rams and threw a total of 287 yards. “It’s a team win, we had a lot of resistance this week,” Stafford told ESPN. His opponent Kyler Murray even managed 444 yards, but also threw two interceptions.
The Cardinals start better at first, take the lead with a 53-yard field goal from Matt Prater and do not allow the Rams to score any points in the first quarter. After two touchdowns in the second quarter by Odell Beckham Junior (Rams) and James Conner (Cardinals), who scored a touchdown in the seventh game in a row, and three more field goals, it went into the half-time break with 13:13.
Los Angeles lays the foundation for success in the third section. First Van Jefferson scored a 52-yard touchdown after a pass from Stafford, a little later Cardinals quarterback Kyler Murray threw his second interception of the evening. Cooper Kupp scores his twelfth touchdown of the season and the Rams take the lead 27:13.
Arizona comes up again in the final quarter through Conner’s second touchdown of the evening, but the Rams play the game confidently home and win with 30:23. Due to the success Los Angeles (9-4) is only missing one win on division leader Arizona (10-3). The second in the division will – should no wonder – qualify for the playoffs with a wild card.
Corona outbreak in the NFL
Los Angeles Rams defenseman Jalen Ramsey is one of the pros who landed on the NFL’s coronal list on Monday. The NFL reported 36 new cases on its homepage – a daily record.
