Los Angeles Police Identify Suspect in Murders of Homeless Men: Appeals for Community Safety and Assistance

One suspect has been identified in connection with the murders of three homeless men in Los Angeles this week.

This was announced by the police in Los Angeles on Saturday evening Norwegian time.

The suspect (33) was already in custody after being arrested for another murder, according to NBC News.

Lie down and sleep

The police in Los Angeles issued an appeal to the city’s homeless on Friday:

– Our message to the city’s homeless is resoundingly clear: Don’t sleep alone tonight, said Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass (D), according to the newspaper.

– Seek out shelters, seek out services, stick together, she added.

The announcement came after three outcasts were shot and killed in the big city this week, apparently as completely unprovoked acts.

All the incidents happened in the early hours of the morning, when the victims were sleeping in open places such as side streets or pavements. The dead are all men between the ages of 37 and 62 – one African-American and two Hispanic.

– We believe the same person walked up to each one of them and shot and killed them, said Los Angeles Police Chief Michael Moore.

Great resources have been put into the investigation. Among other things, homicide investigators have been brought in from a number of different districts in the big city, and the FBI and the Ministry of Justice are assisting. The police have also established a separate page about the murders, where the public can also submit tips.

On the site, the police have also published a photo of a dark car they believe may be connected to the murders, as well as a photo of a suspected perpetrator in a hoodie.

Invitation

The big cities in California have a large proportion of outliers. In Los Angeles, there are an estimated 46,260 of them, according to updated figures from this summer.

Among the measures the city authorities have implemented is to open shelters that are usually only open during extreme weather. Public servants will also actively seek out outcasts, and the police encourage relatives to contact the family members on the streets.

– You must tell them about this danger, Mayor Bass urges.

On Friday, two outlaws were killed and three injured in a shooting incident in Las Vegas, a few hours’ drive from Los Angeles. It is not known whether the two shooting incidents are related to each other, writes CBS News.
