Los Angeles/New York (dpa) – US singer Axl Rose (61) from the rock band Guns N’ Roses has rejected allegations of alleged sexual assault against him. The singer cannot remember ever meeting or speaking to the plaintiff and he has never heard of these “fabricated allegations” before, his lawyer Alan Gutman said on Wednesday (local time). “Simply put, this incident never happened,” said the statement, which was available to the German Press Agency.
Former model and actress Sheila Kennedy (61) accuses Rose of assault and sexual violence in a civil lawsuit filed in New York on Wednesday, US media reported, citing court documents. Kennedy describes an alleged violent incident in a New York hotel in 1989 after she met Rose at a nightclub. She was abused and suffered “lifelong emotional, physical, psychological and financial effects” on her life, People.com quoted from the lawsuit. Kennedy is seeking undisclosed compensation.
Rose is the long-time frontman of Guns N’ Roses. The band had big hits in the 80s and 90s with “November Rain”, “Sweet Child O’ Mine”, “Knockin’ On Heaven’s Door” and “Paradise City”. Since their formation in 1985, the hard rock band has sold more than 100 million albums.
