Ninety-three people were arrested during a demonstration in University of Southern California (USC) campus in the Los Angeleswhich was organized in the context of the mass mobilizations in favor of Palestinians at several US universities, police said.
“No injuries were reported. Police patrols will continue in the area.” today, the Los Angeles Police Department said in a message posted on the X social network.
For its part, USC told X around midnight that the demonstration was over and that the campus would remain “closed until further notice”.
“Students, faculty, staff and those with businesses on campus can enter with proper ID”the university added.

The pro-Palestinian demonstration at USC is part of a series of student protests since October to protest the growing number of casualties in Israel’s war against Hamas inGaza Strip which has claimed the lives of some 34,200 people, most of them civilians, according to the Palestinian movement’s health ministry.

The unprecedented October 7, 2023 attack by Hamas left 1,170 dead, mostly civilians, according to an AFP report based on official Israeli figures.
The latest wave of protests began at New York’s Columbia University, where dozens of arrests were made last week after university authorities called in the police to end a sit-in with several figures accusing students of anti-Semitism.
Pro-Palestinian demonstrations continued Wednesday on Columbia’s campus.
