Los Angeles Kings | Quinton Byfield injures himself and leaves the match

(Los Angeles) Quinton Byfield, second pick in the 2020 NHL Draft, suffered a lower-body injury in the third period of the preseason game that ended 4-1 for the Arizona Coyotes over the Los Angeles Kings Tuesday night.

The 19-year-old center fell unusually against the ramp after coming into contact with Coyotes right winger Christian Fischer. Byfield was unable to put weight on his left leg, and he was escorted out of the ice.

Kings head coach Todd McLellan mentioned after the game that Byfield will undergo further reviews on Wednesday.

Byfield looked certain to pivot the Kings’ fourth line in their opener next week. He spent most of the last season with the Ontario Reign in the American Hockey League and had a six-game assist with the Kings.
