Lorraine. Three Lorraine Flunch restaurants put on sale before closing

In great difficulty since 2015 with a loss of attendance and turnover, Flunch announced last week that it wanted to part with some sixty restaurants in France. This Tuesday, the list of transferred establishments was unveiled during a works council. They are 57 with 1,244 employees. In Lorraine, the signs of Nancy-Tomblaine (54), Bar-le-Duc (55) and Creutzwald are concerned out of the dozen still in activity. They achieved less than 2.4 million euros in turnover.

“There has never been a single buyer”

Initially, restaurants will be offered for sale. Marie-Josée Bienvenu, CGT central delegate of the brand, has no illusions: “On previous closings (8 in 2018 including Nancy San Sebastian , Editor’s note), there has never been a single buyer. It’s hard to see how it could be any different today… ”The sale of these establishments weighs a hundred jobs in the balance. For the trade unionist, speaking of a “hammer blow”, the Covid has accelerated the financial crisis of the company. Strongly linked to shopping areas, in particular Auchan which is part of the same group, this type of restaurant is also suffering from the disaffection of customers for this mode of consumption. The Flunch group has 277 restaurants in France. Born in 1971, he belongs to the constellation of brands of the Mulliez group (Decathlon, Auchan, Boulanger, Leroy Merlin, Kiabi…). A family business that developed on the concept of supermarkets in Roubaix (North) in 1961.
