Météo France has just placed Meurthe-et-Moselle, Meuse, Moselle, Vosges and Territoire de Belfort on orange vigilance.

“The quantities expected on the episode will often be 7 to 15 centimeters from the Massif Ardennais to the sectors of Longwy, Nancy, Metz, east of Epinal, to Colmar, Mulhouse and Belfort”, explains the weather institute. “Locally, this value of 15 centimeters could even be exceeded. Such values ​​have become unusual in the plains during the last winters”.

On the relief of the Vosges, from 500 meters above sea level, 15 to 30 centimeters are expected, as well as on the relief of the Jura above 800 to 1000 meters.

13 h.- The return of snow in Lorraine and Franche-Comté

In Lorraine, the cold returns on Thursday morning: it begins to snow in the plains at the very beginning of the morning and the phenomenon will intensify during the day. At noon, there should already be between 7 and 10 cm in Nancy and in the Sarrebourg sector, 5 cm in Verdun and Metz.

And this snowfall will continue until evening.

Indeed, the disturbance will then move to the south of Lorraine and Franche-Comté: at the end of the afternoon, an additional 20 cm will cover the west of the Vosges, the north of the Territoire de Belfort and of course the Jura massif. .

Friday morning, almost all of Lorraine and Franche-Comté will be covered with snow: more than 15 centimeters in the Pays de Montbéliard, in the east of Haute-Saône, in the south of the Territoire de Belfort, 10 in almost all of Meurthe-et-Moselle and Meuse, 7 to 10 centimeters in Metz, 3 to 5 centimeters in Vesoul, a little less in Besançon.
