Lorraine EHPADs are starting to obtain residents’ consent

D-day for the coronavirus vaccination campaign in France. The first injections take place this Sunday, in two EHPADs in Seine-Saint-Denis and Côte-d’Or. In Lorraine it must begin next week, according to the Nancy CHRU. “For the moment, we have not received a deposit“, indicates Claire-Marie Le Monnier, director of a retirement home in Colombey-les-Belles. “But we have already started to consult residents, their families, and inform doctors”, she continues.

Try to “lift the resistance”

Not very easy to make contact with all these little people during the holiday season, recognizes Cédric Lacresse, the director of the EHPAD des Bruyères in Epinal. “A lot of people are on leave, but we have to organize and set the whole procedure to music. For residents who do not have cognitive disorders, they will be able to express themselves freely. For people under legal protection, we will call on the legal guardian.”

In Colombey-les-Belles, Claire-Marie Le Monnier knows that this vaccination gives rise to many reservations. The key, according to her, is dialogue. “The idea is to meet each elderly person, to have an opinion of the families, so as to be able to talk about it and try to overcome resistance.” Fundamental work, which will take the time it takes according to the director to try to “find a consensus“.
