The Court of Cassation rejected, on February 16, the appeals of Manuel Pasquereau and Caroline Denisart, who had been sentenced respectively to 28 and 20 years of criminal imprisonment on November 13, 2020 by the Assize Court of Appeal of the Moselle. Laetitia Dupont, sentenced to 30 years in prison, had not filed an appeal. They were being prosecuted for acts of torture and kidnapping committed on a vulnerable young girl in Verdun in 2015.
At first instance in Nancy, in 2019, Laetitia Dupont and Manuel Pasquereau were sentenced to 18 years in prison and Caroline Denisart to 15 years.
The Court of Cassation rendered a judgment without reasoning, stating only that no serious legal argument had been provided to it. The sentences of 28, 20 and 30 years’ imprisonment for Pasquereau, Denisart and Dupont therefore became final.
On the other hand, the Court of Cassation decided on February 16 that Julien Fernandez, tried for the murder of Antoine Mamone in February 2013 in Thionville and sentenced to 20 years in prison at first instance in Metz on December 17, 2021, would be retried on appeal. by the assizes of Meurthe-et-Moselle.
