Lorraine. Angry fairgrounds on the A31, disruptions this morning between Metz and Thionville

About fifty fairgrounds from all over the Lorraine region gathered this Wednesday morning in front of the Zenith in Nancy, as part of a snail operation on the A31, which converged on the FIM in Metz, then Thionville, at the end of morning.

The start signal was launched at 07:50. The Moselle prefecture had warned that the main traffic axes affected were the following: A31, A4, A314, RN431 and D603.

25 vehicles in total mobilized for this operation from Nancy. The prefecture of Meurthe-et-Moselle already announced strong slowdowns on the A31 motorway, around 8.15 am, in the direction of Nancy, Metz.

Shortly after their re-entry on the A31, the twenty fairground trucks caused a major traffic jam in a few minutes, as soon as they came down from Maxeville. The convoy was flanked by police motorcyclists.

At 12:30 pm, all the trucks met on the A31, this time towards Thionville. At the height of the Maxe, it took about 5km of slowdowns. The city center of Thionville quickly found itself blocked, attacked by the fairgrounds.

Why this mobilization?

The fairgrounds intend to protest against the vagueness surrounding the resumption of their activities, which remain prohibited, at least until June 9.

These party professionals deplore a “big lack of consideration”, they who had to cancel “80% of parties since the start of the health crisis” and who believe that parties, outdoors, can be held without risk with a adapted health protocol.

Early this Wednesday, May 19 in the morning, the Fédération des Forains de France announced on his Facebook page, to have obtained the possibility of reopening “in a graduated manner” the fairgrounds on June 9, with a written health protocol.
