Météo France extended this Thursday afternoon its orange vigilance to thunderstorms which should affect many departments from the Massif to the Grand Est this afternoon.
So it is no longer 31 but 37 departments that are on alert.
Lorraine, Alsace, Bourgogne-Franche-Comté, Rhône Valley and Northern Alps on the alert
The departments concerned are as follows: Ardennes, Marne, Haute-Marne, Aube, Yonne, Nièvre, Allier, Puy-de-Dôme, Cantal, Meuse, Meurthe-et -Moselle, Moselle, Vosges, Bas-Rhin, Haut-Rhin, Haute-Saône, Doubs, Territoire de Belfort, Jura, Côte-d’Or, Saône-et-Loire, ‘Ain, the Rhone, the Haute-Loire, the Loire.
Aveyron, Tarn, Ardèche, Drôme, Isère, Savoie and Haute-Savoie join the list.

Hailstorms and intense precipitation
These storms will be accompanied by violent phenomena. Locally heavy hailstorms are expected, intense accumulations of precipitation, occasionally reaching 30 to 50 mm in less than an hour, strong gusts of wind that can reach values of 70 to 90 km/h.
“In the evening the storms will begin to subside in the center-east and they will calm down in the northeast in the first part of the following night” according to Météo France.
