While everything seems to point to Lori Vallow’s involvement in the disappearance of her children, her mother and sister claim she is innocent. In an interview with CBS, Janis Cox explained that her daughter would never have harmed her children. “I’m sure, without a doubt, that she did not hurt these little ones,” she said. “She has always done everything for her children, so we know there is another side to this story. We don’t know which one, but we do know it, ”she added. Summer Shiflet, meanwhile, said her sister couldn’t tell her where the children are “just because she’s in jail.” “What she says is recorded. So she’s not going to tell us anything about it, ”she commented. In addition, she claimed to have spoken to little JJ, 7, on 1is October, after the official date of his disappearance in September: “He takes the phone, he knows who we are”.

According to Lori Vallow’s niece, she refuses to say where JJ and her 17-year-old sister Tylee are because she is protecting them. Several mysteries surround this affair. The death of Charles Vallow, Lori Vallow’s husband, killed by the latter’s brother, who had invoked self-defense. Disturbingly, Alex Cox – who died of pulmonary embolism in December (media initially reported suicide) – had in the past been convicted of threats against one of Lori Vallow’s other husbands, Joseph Ryan, the father of Tylee Ryan. Joseph Ryan died in 2018 from a heart attack. Police are also looking into the death of Chad Daybell’s wife Tammy Daybell, who died two weeks before her husband remarried Lori Vallow.
