Today, the Council of Ministers confirmed the resignation of Defense Minister Stefan Yanev. In his place the government will propose Prof. Todor Tagarev.

According to him, the change in the Ministry of Defense will guarantee much greater stability of our country in the current aggravated moment in the international space.

“We have stated unequivocally that this government works as a team. Especially in a state of war, it is extremely important for us that it speaks with one voice. And in this case it is the Bulgarian interest. The Bulgarian interest dictates that we now stand firm and stable with our allies from the EU and NATO. It is not possible for a government minister to afford to pursue his own foreign policy, “Minister Daniel Lorer told BNT.

He added that he expects support from the BSP tomorrow in the vote on the change of minister in the plenary hall. Laurer did not deny that there were some hesitations in the left, but said he hoped that after talks in their formation they would be overcome.

“The BSP also believes that all ministers should speak in the same tone, so what is happening with Yanev is a result of his actions on social networks. Todor Tagarev is an exceptional professional and I am convinced that the BSP will see where Bulgaria’s national interest is, namely that Bulgaria has a stable Minister of Defense to work with the rest of the government.Any other move in parliament would mean that they prefer short-term political individuals to Bulgaria’s stability, which I am convinced they won’t do it, “said Daniel Laurer.

Asked if there was any reason for President Rumen Radev to be critical of the change in the government, given that Stefan Yanev was twice elected caretaker prime minister, Lorer commented:

“We worked extremely constructively with Yanev as prime minister. His current position may outline some evolution in his views. It is the president’s right and responsibility to be concerned about the future of the nation, we accept his words and are equally concerned about it, but as he himself says Bulgaria’s foreign policy is our responsibility. “

Minister Lorer rejected Yanev’s statement that the goal of the castling was to head the Ministry of Defense to make a person more responsive to the promotion of certain foreign interests.

“Mr. Yanev has the right to an opinion, but the important message here is one – this cabinet does not depend on individuals. No one is staffing here outside the common policy that everyone in the coalition has agreed to. So no person in this cabinet to determine its future “, the Minister of Innovation was categorical, Lorer commented.

On the topic of refugees, Daniel Lorer began with advice to those who have doubts about what exactly is happening in Ukraine, let them make the effort to go and meet the people who come from there.

“The clash directly with human suffering opens the eyes very deeply,” Lorer said.

There is currently no influx of refugees to Bulgaria. Mostly people with Bulgarian passports, relatives or work in Bulgaria come to our country.

Tomorrow, the government will gather representatives of employers in our country to discuss job opportunities for refugees from Ukraine. Many will probably come when the way for men is cleared. Currently, men of working age are unable to leave their country due to the announced general immobilization. Daniel Lorer pointed out that it is extremely important to draw up a plan so that refugees can be included in the economic life of the country.

He did not hide that Bulgaria needs labor and is able to accept tens of thousands on the labor market without experiencing any difficulties.

“My fears are that these people will stop in Poland and Romania and will reach very few in Bulgaria. We hope that they will reach us, because they will be extremely useful for the economic life in our country,” added Minister Lorer.
