Cosmetics company L’Oreal at the CES 2023 Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas announced two devices for automated makeup application.
Together with the manufacturer of devices for applying temporary tattoos Prinker, the Brow Magic device was developed for “printing” eyebrows. Using Modiface AR augmented reality technology, a user scans their face using a mobile application, selects the desired eyebrow shape, applies a layer of primer, then the device uses 2400 miniature nozzles to apply “brows” with a resolution up to 1200 dpi.
Also developed for makeup application is HAPTA, an ultra-precise portable smart applicator for users with reduced mobility of the hands and forearms, which helps apply lipstick. The device, co-developed with Verily Life Sciences, maker of tableware with stabilizing technology for users with hand tremors, allows you to choose the most comfortable position for a person and then use the clamping system to comfortably apply lipstick. So far, HAPTA only works with lipstick, but the manufacturers promise that in the future the accessory will be able to apply other makeup.
According to L’Oreal, both devices will hit the market in 2023. The cost of Brow Magic and HAPTA is not indicated.
