Lokataru Director Haris Azhar | and KontraS . Coordinator Fatia Maulidyanti Currently, he is a suspect in the defamation case reported by Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan. Haris Azhar emphasized that he would not remain silent and plans to report back.
“I want to say that I will not be silent about my case. I will be very very proactive, not only to defend my case,” Haris Azhar said at a press conference of the National Agrarian Reform Committee virtually, Sunday (20/3/2022).
“If I was reported yesterday, maybe it’s time for me to report back on a number of things,” he continued.
He said the government’s arrogance towards him was protracted so that he would be committed to his decision. He also confirmed that he would be present at his questioning as a suspect which was scheduled for Monday (21/3).
“So, at least I commit to myself that yesterday I tried to calm down, try to be quiet first, but it seems that the arrogance of the ruling state continues. So tomorrow I will be present at the examination, but I will use my rights to carry out any incoming efforts. proactive category,” he said.
During the event, Haris also appealed to other human rights activists or activists to take the good side of the situation. According to him, his case can be a way to change advocacy for the better.
“I think we will use this once again to educate various information and find ways to advocate for better change,” he continued.
It is known that Haris Azhar and Fatia Maulidiyanti have the status of suspects for defamation in the Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan case. Both have confirmed that they will take a pretrial route in the case.
Haris Azhar’s lawyer, Nurkholis Hidayat, said that his party would take a stand before taking the pretrial route. One of them is related to the submission of witnesses and expert witnesses who are more independent.
“In the context of the suspect’s rights, of course, we will still ask for mitigating witnesses, more independent, accountable experts who must be examined by the police which leads to conclusions, review on the clarity of whether or not there was a criminal act in this case,” said Nurkholis in a virtual conference, Saturday (19/3)
As is known, the status of Haris Azhar and Fatia Maulidiyanti have been increased to become suspects in the case of defamation of the Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan.
