The mayor of Lorca, Diego José Mateos, visited the Pepe Squares and the María Carrillo Park after the recent intervention to improve the gardening of this popular space in the San José neighborhood.
Mateos explained that “from the government team we continue to work on the maintenance of our parks and squares. Our goal is to create new green spaces for leisure but also to take care of our existing gardens, which is why we have carried out the gardening renovation of one of the most popular spaces in our city, the Pepe Plazas and María Carrillo Park , the San Jose park.
The mayor specified that “in particular, through the Mixed Employment and Training Program ‘ENTREPARQUES’, taught by the Department of Employment and Local Development, the replacement of more than 250 plants of varieties such as russelias, rose bushes, lantanas, petunias, carex, salvias, dianelas or geraniums”.
Mateos Molina indicated that “participants in this program have also carried out minor irrigation repairs, and brown clay pavement has been extended throughout the park’s parterres, an area of approximately 400 meters.”
The mayor of Lorca remarked “all the metal handrails, ramps and railings to access the park have also been painted, as well as the street furniture, the removal of graffiti and the painting of the concrete walls”.
Diego José Mateos revealed that “the park of San José is a space for leisure and recreation with a large influx of both children and adults and this renovation of its gardens and the replacement of plants is a further commitment of this team government for the maintenance and upkeep of our squares, parks and gardens with the firm objective of offering a beautiful and well-kept Lorca that can be enjoyed by the residents of Lorca and, of course, also by those who visit us”.
