López-Gatell accepts that he left with COVID; risk is minimal, he says

The Undersecretary of Health, Hugo López-Gatell, assured that there is no medical contradiction in going for a walk, despite being contagious, after he was caught on the streets of Mexico City.

“There is no medical or epidemiological contraindication to going for a walk. My contagious capacity is minimal. Of course I will not be in a closed office or interacting with other people, “he told the journalist. Joaquín López Dóriga.

19 days after contracting COVID-19, the undersecretary announced that he tested positive for the virus again, for which he was questioned for going out for a walk.

“The probability that I will infect someone through my double mask while walking in the park twenty feet away from other people is virtually zero,” he said.

In a virtual press conference, López-Gatell reported that he had not yet received the epidemiological discharge and that it was still a “contagious” case.

However, he explained to the journalist that everything he does or does not do “will be used by that segment of the population that does not want to or cannot understand the situation.”

After falling ill with COVID, the Undersecretary for Prevention and Health Promotion, Hugo López-Gatell, required supplemental oxygenation after registering a decrease in his breathing levels, at the end of February.

When arguing the right to confidentiality, López-Gatell refused to disclose details about his state of health, considering that it can transmit a harmful message to the population.

“It is a matter of public health, what I comment on my own experience has to be of a general nature, but if I comment on particular aspects of my health situation, my biological conditions, my treatment, my recovery time, I would be doing serious harm by transferring an idea as if my own experience could be directly generalized to anyone else ”, he stated.
