“Loosening too early”: Company fears infections

The “Onlineprinters” print shop employs 660 people. The company, which has its headquarters in Fürth, continues to rely on strict corona protection measures and working from home. Especially in production, the measures should not be relaxed. The fear of a corona outbreak is too great.

3G in the printing halls, suppliers are not allowed in

The “Onlineprinters” in Neustadt an der Aisch produce flyers, posters and brochures. Anyone wishing to enter the printing halls must comply with 3G. This also applies to production manager Jürgen Winkler. Employees who have not been vaccinated must be tested daily at the test center.

All in all, the print shop seals itself off as much as possible. Suppliers are prohibited from entering. The primary goal: avoiding infections, explains Jürgen Winkler. “In the case of outbreaks, we shorten the shift times. We make sure that we don’t have encounters in the changing rooms and in the toilets. We take staggered breaks and should individual cases arise, which we have had in the past, we test the teams of the shifts, So whole workshops, and that over several days.”

Companies worried by incidence peaks

The company management monitors the infection situation in the district of Neustadt/Aisch-Bad Windsheim and in the company on a daily basis. The production manager is extremely critical of the fact that it should now be relaxed and there is talk of a “Freedom Day”.

“I would like the openings to be a little slower. It’s a big risk for us as a company. If we had an outbreak and several employees were absent, we wouldn’t be able to maintain the production site.” Jürgen Winkler, Production Manager “Onlineprinters”

In administration, mainly home office

At the company’s headquarters in Fürth, Human Resources Manager Pamela Horneber is one of the few who actually works in the office. She is responsible for 660 employees and has to help decide how things will continue next week. Because: Marketing, sales, customer service – the majority of the “Onlineprinters” work in the home office. The colleagues could theoretically come back next week.

There was some debate as to whether that would make sense. The HR manager knows that many colleagues long for normality, but at the same time are afraid of coming back to the office. “Right now, we actually wanted to bring our commercial colleagues back to the office next week. Yesterday, management decided that we would be more careful for the time being and leave everyone at home again.”

From Easter to be re-evaluated

The reason: The opening steps worry the company. “We still want everyone to be healthy, and that’s why we’re taking things slowly,” says the HR manager. Above all, because business is doing well again after a long dry spell. Orders come in and they want to fulfill them. Therefore, strict protection against infection will remain for the time being. Until Easter everything should remain as it is at the moment. Then the “Onlineprinters” want to reassess the infection situation.
