Loosen up Bielefeld, Paderborn and the Höxter district

Düsseldorf (dpa / lnw) – Bielefeld, Paderborn, Höxter district: Several NRW municipalities with low corona numbers are using the opportunity to relax local trade and culture. Cities like Münster or Bottrop, which also have low values, remain cautious, however. They refer to the nationwide and state-wide rather slightly increasing trend in new infections.

According to the Corona Ordinance revised on Monday evening, districts and urban districts in which the 7-day incidence is “sustainably and significantly” below the value of 50 can, in agreement with the NRW Ministry of Health, relax the protective measures.

In Bielefeld, shopping and museum visits will be possible from Thursday without registering and making appointments, the city announced on Tuesday. Bielefeld’s Mayor Pit Clausen (SPD) had already campaigned for this last week. The ministry agreed, the city said. Clausen spoke in a communication of an “important signal for the battered retail and culture”. According to the State Health Center NRW, Bielefeld had a 7-day value of 30.2 on Tuesday.

In the Paderborn district it was already possible to shop without an appointment on Tuesday. Museums, galleries, castles, memorials, zoos and similar institutions could also be visited spontaneously, as the district (7-day incidence 37.7) had reported.

In the Höxter district, appointments for trading will no longer be available from Wednesday, as the district (7-day incidence 39.2) announced on Tuesday. “The easing is particularly important for our retailers. They are also a relief for the customers. That is why we will implement the options for additional easing that the Corona Protection Ordinance gives us as soon as possible,” said District Administrator Michael Stickeln (CDU).

The city of Münster, on the other hand, refrained from easing, which would have been possible with a current incidence of 43.8. The contagion numbers have been increasing again for a few days, said a city spokesman. Bottrop made a similar decision (7-day incidence 34.9): “If the incidence values were to rise again, special regulations of a municipality would have to be withdrawn, which would inevitably lead to uncertainty,” explained the city. In addition, special regulations in the densely populated Ruhr area damaged a “concerted fight against pandemics”.
