– He is of course very affected by what he has experienced, says police station chief at Fauske police station district Ronny Borge to NRK.
He is leading the investigation of the accident.
Borge says that the Accident Investigation Board and the accident group of the Norwegian Public Roads Administration have today arrived in Fauske to investigate the vehicles involved.
– There has been nothing new in the case since the accident happened. But the examination of the vehicles will reveal this with light, light use and other technical things, Borge says to NRK.
Looking for two cars
One of the things the police ask themselves is whether the tractor had the lights on and whether it was moving when it was hit from behind.
They also want to find out if the driver of the tractor was in the vehicle when it was hit.
Borge can also state that the police want to get in touch with the drivers of two cars that must have passed through the tunnel just before the accident.
– Et witness who drove past the tractor made a stop outside the tunnel shortly afterwards. The witness believes that two more cars came out of the tunnel afterwards. This means that it is likely that there are three cars that have fitted the tractor prior to the accident.
– We want to get in touch with more witnesses to clarify how the conditions were in the tunnel before the accident.
– What can these witnesses help to clarify?
– DThere are many questions that are natural to ask. Among other things: If there are three vehicles that have passed the tractor, why did the fourth car crash?
Borge can also state that they are fairly certain of the identity of the five dead, but that work is still being done on a final confirmation.
