Two smoke grenades are said to have been thrown to the floor in the subway, before the man pulled a handgun of the Glock brand with a nine millimeter caliber. He then fired the weapon at least 33 times, hitting ten different people, NYPD chief James Essig said at a news conference Wednesday night.
There he explained several clues in the case, including the car keys and the credit card that have led them to want to find Frank James.
Promised Bounty
$ 50,000 has been promised to anyone who can provide information leading to the arrest of a suspect. It has thus not yet been clarified that Frank James will be given the status of a suspect if the police get hold of him.
The man who shot is said to have been wearing a construction worker’s vest, gray hoodie and gas mask.
Dangerous man on the loose – not sure it’s James
New York police have now posted a picture of James on it Twitter and writes that he is of interest in the case. People who have information about his whereabouts are consequently asked to contact.
Governor Kathy Hochul says the man who committed the acts was dangerous. However, it is not certain that the named man they are now calling for has committed the acts.
– This man is still at large, and is very dangerous. We ask people to be vigilant, Hochul said during a press conference on Tuesday. A police spokesman said during the same press conference that there was no indication that the incident was a terrorist attack.
Finds at the scene
Police found the Glock handgun at the scene, along with several ammunition magazines. In addition, they are said to have found an ax, detonated and non-detonated smoke grenades, a black garbage bag, a trolley, petrol and the keys to a car of the type “U-Haul van”. Furthermore, James Essig from the NYPD informed that the keys are an important clue. It has led them to the person who rented the car, and he has addresses in Philadelphia and Wisconsin. The authorities are looking for him, but Essig insisted that it was not certain that this man was connected to the shooting itself. He is attached to the rental car.
New York police use Twitter and public contact actively in the investigation. The press conferences can also be followed live.

Think the weapon locked
Investigators believe the weapon locked, and that it prevented the suspect from continuing to fire. They are in the process of tracing the weapon’s manufacturer, seller and original owner. The identity of the person they want to get in touch with is linked to a credit card found on the spot, which is used to rent the car in question.
29 people in hospital
The New York Fire Department says they helped 16 people. Ten of them have gunshot wounds, and for five of them the condition is critical. They are out of danger, according to the police chief. In all, at least 29 have been treated in hospital for gunshot wounds, having inhaled smoke and other injuries.
