The Association of Banks in Lebanon said Wednesday in a statement that Lebanese banks will remain closed indefinitely, noting the continuing “risks” facing employees after a series of bank raids last week.
The association said in a statement: “As a result of the association’s intense contacts with the authorities concerned and as risks still threaten bank employees and their customers … banks will keep their doors forcibly closed at this time. , especially in the absence of measures or even assurances by the state and all safety authorities in order to provide a safe working environment.
Banks had planned to reopen their doors on Thursday after a three-day closure announced last week after a total of seven banks were raided by depositors trying to get their savings.
