Lonnie Walker IV se une a los Boston Celtics

Lonnie Walker IV was one of the most attractive players left available in free agency, but his situation has already been resolved… halfway. According to Shams Charania, a journalist from The Athleticthe shooting guard has signed an Exhibit 10 contract with the Boston Celtics, a non-guaranteed agreement that will allow him to do the preseason with the reigning champions and that will provide him with a series of salary bonuses in case he ends up forming part of their G League affiliate, the Maine Celtics, or signing a contract two-way.

Walker is coming off averaging 9.7 points, 2.2 rebounds and 1.3 assists for the Brooklyn Nets, while shooting 38.4% from three. His solid performance led many to expect a lot of interest when the transfer window opened, perhaps not enough to sign a big contract but enough to have a lot of teams knocking on his door, but that hasn’t happened. In fact, even after this deal, the shooting guard doesn’t have a guaranteed spot in the league, but this is an important step for him to get there.

Boston currently has 14 players under guaranteed contracts, so Walker will be able to fight for the final spot against the likes of Ron Harper Jr. and Tristan Enaura, who also signed Exhibit 10 contracts this summer. If he were to confirm his arrival, the reigning champions would not only have kept their roster virtually intact, but would have added a player to their rotation that is quite useful on both ends of the floor and could help them repeat their dominant 23-24 season.
