Cologne/Düsseldorf (dpa/lnw) – Even on the third holiday weekend in North Rhine-Westphalia, passengers at the airports in Cologne/Bonn and Düsseldorf have to put up with longer waiting times. As a spokesman for Cologne/Bonn Airport said on request on Saturday, there were still queues in the terminals. According to the information, the plagued guests remained patient, everything was going quietly and orderly.
A spokesman for the federal police said the situation at Cologne/Bonn Airport is currently varying greatly. There was a waiting time of around two and a half hours at the security check on Saturday morning between 9 a.m. and 11 a.m., after which it relaxed again. A spokesman from Düsseldorf reported something similar. Long queues formed at the airport early on Saturday morning, but they had already disappeared by 6 a.m. Everyone stayed calm and there was no chaos.
A total of around 179,000 people are expected at Düsseldorf Airport over the weekend, and just over 100,000 travelers are to be processed in Cologne/Bonn. Despite the longer waiting times, all passengers in Düsseldorf reached their plane on time, said the airport spokesman.
