Regensburg, city.Because of the 9-euro ticket, longer regional trains are to run on Bavaria’s rails in the short term. Something is also happening around Regensburg – at Agilis even immediately.

The 9-euro ticket has been sold millions of times in Germany so far, and the trains in the region are also full. The Bavarian Free State is now planning to put more capacity on certain lines on the rails and is investing eight million euros to do so. This is reported by the Ministry of Transport in a press release. Affected by this: the Regensburg-Ulm and Plattling-Regensburg-Neumarkt connections.

More space on trains around Regensburg

As the Bavarian Railway Company (BEG), as the responsible authority, reports on request, the railway operators have already been informed about the plans. The additional offer would have to be handled by the Regensburg private railway Agilis, which runs on the lines to Neumarkt, Plattling and Ulm. Increases are also being discussed on the Regensburg-Marktredwitz route, where the state railway runs.

Above all, “reinforcements of individual trains” are planned. That means: no additional journeys, just longer trains. The BEG is currently fine-tuning the details of which connections around Regensburg will be increased with Agilis and Länderbahn, the press office said on Wednesday evening.

“Immediate measure” for Corpus Christi

As an “immediate measure”, however, four daily trips between Regensburg and Ulm are to take place on Corpus Christi and next weekend in double traction, i.e. with two multiple units, reports Agilis spokeswoman Alisa Weinhold. The other transports are under examination. Double trains to Plattling every two hours are also in the concept. On the line to Ulm, increased trips are basically conceivable for all departure times, writes Weinhold.

The trains are currently “sometimes much more busy”. This also results from the frequent entrainment of bicycles, prams and other “bulky” cargo.
